Authentic WW1 USMC M1917 Steel Helmet w/ EGA
This is a US made M1917 steel helmet shell. These helmets were made by either Ford Motor Company or McCord Radiator but do not bear a manufacturer mark. They do however have a steel lot code beginning with the letter Z, common for all US makers.
This example we have here is an original US made M1917 steel shell. The shell is marked ZC183 (steel lot code). At a later time, a United States Marine Corps EGA (eagle globe and anchor) badge was added, and the exterior was re-painted.
